Who doesn’t love a little rivalry…a little competition between friends and supporting a great cause while you’re doing it?
2nd Annual East West Groveler Gravel Race
Saturday, October 10th – Sunday, October 18, 2020
2020… Who Knew?
We’ve heard from many of you that you want to race, so… Let’s Race!
With the impacts of Covid on many events this year, we’re still going to hold the event, in a virtual fashion. See the details below on how and when to ride, and how to submit it for the final race results. On Monday, October 19th, we’ll hold a live Facebook event to share the results, and announce the winners!
Who doesn’t love a little rivalry… a little competition between friends and supporting a great cause while you’re doing it?
We do! And that’s why we want you to join us for the 2nd annual East-West Groveler Race… with a spin for 2020. Using the Platte River as our divide, you will be able to register to join the East team or the West team depending on which side of the river you live.
When: Saturday, October 10th – Sunday, October 18, 2020.
Where: Park at Parker’s Smokehouse 16880 US-6, Ashland, NE
Time: It’s Virtual! What that means is you will be able to ride the route any time between Saturday October 10th, and 5:00 PM on Sunday, October 18th. In an email along with your Strava, RidewithGPS, or Garmin handle, First & Last name, you will need to submit a picture of you, with your GPS device (phone, Strava, Wahoo, Garmin…etc) showing the time & Distance when you finish the race route. Get creative, show us how much fun you had on the route.
Course: 40ish miles (GPX Coming Week of October 5th)
Divisions: East – racers living east of Platte River, West – racers living on west of Platte River
Fees: $30 per racer and you must register by 5:00 PM on Friday, October 9th.
Rules: The Team with the lowest number of points wins! Once registration closes, team size will be set by the lowest number of participants signed up for the east or west team. Finishers receive a point equal to their finish position based on the finishing time provided in a photo with your GPS device. Your Strava, Garmin, or RidewithGPS handle will also need to be provided for verification.
As a bonus for some of our diehard riders, a point will be subtracted for single speed category, fat tire, and to encourage our female friends to get out and ride gravel with us, female team finishers. This means more pictures! Share what you rode the route on with us for points.
Tiebreaker will go to the largest team, so everyone counts! The highest-scoring team will be groveling about their gravel loss until next year!!
Post Race: We typically enjoy some great Parker’s BBQ. We’re working with them to get a discount for you to grab a meal after you complete the route.
The East team won the inaugural race by a slight margin, bringing the trophy to the Omaha Trek Store. Will it remain there, or will the West team avenge their loss and take the trophy and bragging rights to Lincoln?
